Fixes #748 - as discussed in the ticket, this change avoids the use of split via regex, swapping it out for less efficient, but functional ES5 code

I can't found this code in the 3.4.1. has been removed?

This code has not been put into a release yet

It's now in 3.5.0 -- https://github.com/github/fetch/releases/tag/v3.5.0
