I am a Final Year B.Tech. (2024) Student in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar (IITBBS) with a broad range of expertise. I am majorly focused on Applied Machine Learning over Financial Markets and Quantitative Analysis but I do have a fair enough skillset in Software Development, Image Processing, NLP, Data Science / Data Analysis and Web Development. I am currently Interviewing for various roles in the industry related to Machine Learning, Data Science or Finance.
With a varied and spread tech-stack I do not offer a mastery in all but one field, making me flexible in the process and able to call myself a "Jack of all Trades but Master of One". I believe that choosing a single field from Bachelor's Level itself would not be a nice choice given the changing markets. Although yes, I do confess to have invested a large portion of last 1.5 years towards ML, specifically applied in Finance domain, especially for predictive time series data analysis or Quantitative Research or Quantitative Analysis. Even after this time I do not consider myself a master but only an intermediate learner who could be a little better choice at such jobs over others.
I have invested heavily in gaining insights from different roles for the past few years as can be seen from my work experience. In the process I believe that I have made myself flexible enough to survive in startup like conditions as well as slow paced research environments. With working for 65 hours a week during summers of my 2nd year when most of my peers were relaxing I believe that I have made an effort towards my goal.
I agree that such diverse skillset comes with a cost of dilution of concept and it has been evident to me in past few months. As opposed to that I believe it comes at an advantage to grasp things quicker than someone who is just starting. With varied roles I have made myself flexible to switch roles quick allowing me to work on a diverse skillset than others and I wish to Market that to you.
