I thought you might want to match the color scheme of the other screen shots, so I didn't include an image here. But in the test I included the code for generating, commented out.

This would preserve the current default behaviour of colorizing the entire line,
but add the option to colorize some portion of line using
%color_begin%and%color_end%tokens in the $format.
