Repository files navigation

A GUI helper app where you can type-in your chosen icons from FontAwesome, subset them and download the smaller version of CSS and Webfonts glyphs.

Framework/Modules Used

Usage

If you haven't made any changes to the source file then directly use :

 npm start

This will run the express server and serve the optimized production file of CRA and handle API calls/routing. Go to http://localhost:8080 in your browser to access to GUI.

Should you made changes to the source, build the CRA first and rerun the server :

 npm run build

 npm start

To run in dev mode where CRA and Express run separately, use :

npm run dev

Please note that dev mode does include Redux DevTools Extension. You may encounter an error while opening the served page from a browser without the extension installed. The dev tools 'hook' is applied into the Redux Middleware inside ./store.js :

const middleware = [thunk];

const store = createStore(
  rootReducer,
  initialState,
  dev
    ? compose(
        applyMiddleware(...middleware),
        window.__REDUX_DEVTOOLS_EXTENSION__ &&
          window.__REDUX_DEVTOOLS_EXTENSION__()
      )
    : applyMiddleware(...middleware)
);

Application on serving site

In the app frontend page, enter your preferred icon tag by referring to official FontAwesome icon search. When you have finalized your list, click save, and download. The downloaded zip file contains the custom-fa.min.css and a /webfonts folder.

Copy these files into your static server and refer to the CSS file from an html <link>.
