Some initial thoughts here for you below.

Also it'd be quite useful to get a bit of an overview of what Senzio is and does and how it will end up talking over mqtt. I tried to look at the website link but it says coming March 2024 and that's all. Is it even a product yet?

Hi @sdb9696

Regarding the information you requested about what Senziio devices do, here's the description about the model we want to support with this integration:

The THEIA-1 allows you to have an effective interpretation of the presence, count and traceability of the position of objects, people, and animals; also monitoring location, speed, direction, and angle of horizontal or vertical position, all without invading the privacy of people. It does not collect any personal data, such as images, sounds or videos. Thus, it can be continuously used at home and in private spaces without invading their privacy.

The device is also capable of measuring environmental variables such as temperature, humidity, ATM pressure, light intensity and air quality. The acquisition of enviaronmental variables can be employed to optimize company premises such as working spaces, meeting rooms, shop floors and many more – not only for occupancy management, but also to control an efficient level of heating, air condition or ventilation.

Data is transmitted via MQTT, connecting both the device and Home Assistant to the same broker. Each entity listens to a different topic. We are pursuing the patent and cannot give more details at the moment. This is a real product. The website will be online as soon as we have the patent.

Thank you!
