Module and script to scrape major indices quote data from yahoo finance page

Installation

1. Clone this repository git clone https://github.com/howsunjow/YahooFinance.git

2. Change to the repository directory

3. Type the command pip install .

Usage (Linux/Unix)

usage: download_major_indices [-h] [--source SOURCE] [--format {csv,json}] [--output OUTPUT] [--timestamp]

optional arguments:
  --help               Show this help message and exit
  --source SOURCE      Data source (default = http://finance.yahoo.com/world-indices)
  --format {csv,json}  Output format (default = csv)
  --output OUTPUT      Output file name (defaut
  --timestamp          Include timestamp in output filename

Usage (Windows)

From a cmd window

usage: python [python script location]\download_major_indices [-h] [--source SOURCE] [--format {csv,json}] [--output OUTPUT] [--timestamp]
