Introduction

Ashfall is a camping, survival and needs mod for Morrowind. It uses the latest in MWSE Lua scripting functionality to implement a wide range of mechanics that integrate seamlessly into the game and provide a truly immersive experience.

Not like Other Survival Mods

When done poorly, survival mods can be tedious. Managing your needs feels like a chore that gets in the way of actually playing the game, and often requires trudging through menus and sifting through your inventory.

This is far from the case with Ashfall. Want to cook some rat meat? No need to find the "grilled rat meat" recipe in some menu, just stick it on the grill and watch it cook. Need to harvest firewood? Just grab an axe, swing it at a tree. Any axe, any tree. Every mechanic, from cooking to camping, is designed to be intuitive, immersive and fun.

A Feast for the Eyes

Wherever possible, Ashfall mechanics are communicated in an immersive and visual way. You know your meat has cooked on the grill when it sizzles and turns brown. You can see exactly how much water is in your cooking pot, and watch the steam rise from it when it starts boiling. When the weather is freezing cold, you'll see frost on your breath, and that of other NPCs. When you place campfires and tents, they will align perfectly with the orientation of the ground, while the flames/supports etc remain vertical. Menus are kept to a minimum, and where they are used they are dynamic and intuitive.

Highly Compatible

Despite adding functionality to bottles, wells, trees and bodies of water all across Vvardenfell, Ashfall contains absolutely no cell edits. It is compatible with almost everything, including land expansion mods such as Tamriel Rebuilt, as well as Morrowind Rebirth, with no compatibility ESPs required.

Ashfall also allows mods to register new regions, clothing, heat sources, food, water sources and more, by defining a simple lua script that calls the Ashfall Interop APIs.
