[Bug]: Typescript compilation errors cause Jest to hang silently

Steps to reproduce

1. Close repo at https://github.com/NiekPas/jest-hangs.git
2. Run npm i
3. Run npm run test

Expected behavior

I expect to see a compilation error or other indication that the test could not be run.

Actual behavior

Jest hangs indefinitely.

Could this be due to the use of ESM?

Environment

System:
    OS: macOS 12.2.1
    CPU: (8) x64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4870HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz

I can confirm this problem when trying to build malformed code with Node.js 18.2.0, jest 28.1.0 and TypeScript 4.6.4.

ts-jest 27.1.4 is the last version that reports TS errors correctly, starting with ts-jest 28.0.0-next.0 things hang forever.

I faced the same issue while testing my babel custom plugin. It never showed any error message. Still I found the problem was that ts-jest just hangs if I don't pass isolatedModules: true in the ts-jest config inside jest.config.ts

After reading the debug log(using TS_JEST_LOG), I can confirm that the ts-jest is able to detect the error and log it and only hangs after that.

Possibly related to the fact that we throw ts errors in ESM mode instead of Promise.reject
