As a standalone process

There is two ways to connect to Pelican as a standalone service:

• Via Sockets
• Via Http endpoints

The simplest way to connect to Pelican is through available clinets:

• Java applications: jPelican

Running Pelican server

go get -u https://github.com/mostafa-asg/pelican
cd $GOPATH/github.com/mostafa-asg/pelican
go build
./pelican

You can pass the parameters when you run: ./pelican -expire=10m -strategy=sliding -cleanup=30m To see the full flags, use -h:

./pelican -h

Enable http endpoints

./pelican -enable-http=true

Set the key

curl -X PUT http://localhost:4050/firstname --data mostafa

Get the key

Request:

curl http://localhost:4050/firstname

Response:

{ "value": "bW9zdGFmYQ==" }

As you see the value is binary that encoded as base64. If you know the type, you can pass it through headers:

curl -H "type:string" http://localhost:4050/firstname

Response:

{ "value": "mostaaf" }
