Versioning and API compatibility

Unfortunately I do not have the time to maintain older releases with a stable API. Therefore, this library has a single version number, incremented for every release. The API may change at any time, breaking compatibility. If this is not acceptable, your best bet is to fork this project and merge any bugfixes yourself.
