Does Swift not support any of the regex's supplied in the FAQ? What are the differences?

No. It supported both formats supplied in the FAQ.

Open the issue because the original wording does not use something like "etc." or "for example". So I think Swift deserves a name for it.

Close the issue in favor of #955 (comment)
