  1. texinfo: improve variable in :samp: directives 

    The following snippet:
Show :samp:`Samp with a {variable}.`

Ends in .info as:
Show ‘Samp with a `variable'.’

Which is suboptimal and @var{variable} should be rather used.
That results in ‘Samp with a VARIABLE.’.
