about

I've been working for circa a decade now woodshed inventing novel "first principle" non-halting math & computer patterns. I've done it as a labour of love and for posterity.

I've made exciting contributions to science. You can learn more about these contributions on my alchemy repo.

Sponsorship will validate my scientific contributions as well as provide support so that I can continue to refine and publish my contributions as well as invest in educational initiatives.

Plus, it's time to have kids! As such, I can't continue to work for passion only. I need to focus on supporting my family. However, I believe this work is important to society and I would love to keep developing it as fast as possible but with community support this time around.

I'm now bringing my inventions to the open source market. I hope sponsorship can help pay for my market entry costs.

  1. The main reason I have high market entry costs is that I decided to patent my cornerstone software invention, the Hierarchical Script Database.

It might seem counterproductive to patent software that is fundamentally designed to be open source and transparent.

However, given my background in IP law, especially the Canadian music publishing & royalties industry, I believe a patent is the best way to be a good shepherd for my software invention as it matures past me into a prosperous, robust open source community with all kinds of wonderful derivations far beyond my abilities alone.

  1. An additional reason I have high market entry costs is that I'm passionate about finding a way we can respect open source software authors as much as we respect song authors. I'm actively investing in helping set the groundwork for that opportunity.

I hope to not only monetize the open source software I author but to also enable others to do the same with the open source software they author.

The music industry found a way to keep radio airplay free for consumption while also compensating authors. I believe we can do the same for open source!
