Unfortunately, I can't merge this because symfony/filesystem require PHP 8 in its version 6. Likewise it requires PHP 7.2.5 in its version 5.4.

Our 4.x branch still supports PHP 7.1 so this is not the way to go.

However, we have a master branch for Psalm 5 where we bumped the min php version to 7.4, and we already replaced path-util on it: #7292

You can already try the beta version of Psalm 5 here: https://github.com/vimeo/psalm/releases/tag/5.0.0-beta1
