The idea of having an application that you can have running on a monitor somwehere in your home or workplace has always fascinated me. I have used many, but none have been exactly what im looking for. This is my attempt to create the perfect solution for myself, and maybe it will be useful to someone else as well.
Sure web based status boards are pretty, but I spend every day in the terminal. The goal of this project is to create a dashboard that is resposive to and plays nicely with tiled window managers such as i3 or awesome.
But what is a dashboard witout things to display! Here is a list of features that are currently supported, and planned to be supported in the future.
- Show pretty bar graphs of whatever metrics please you!
- Display the weather in the zipcode of your choosing!
- Graphics for the weather widget!
- Weekly commit count bar graphs!
- Displaying everyones commits on a particular project.
- Display system information.
- Displaying RSS feeds.
- ? Something cute.
- ? Header bar.
When its ready to install and be used, Ill let you know.
When everyting is said and done, you should be able to run it from your terminal with the following command:
status-termExpect photos in the future!
Will let you know when I inevitably create them.
