2021 Product Roadmap

This document aims to serve as a place to share our most-up-to-date thinking on our H1 (January - June) 2021 product roadmap with the community. Please note that work is subject to change - our team works in an agile fashion, which means that new information might change our priorities and we could end up adjusting accordingly.

Hubs Engine

  • Support for reading and rendering compressed textures
  • Reticulum updates to improve stability and reliability of hubs.mozilla.com
  • Audio/voice quality & stability improvements
  • Backend API that allows authorized users to perform a limited set of tasks related to room management

Hubs Cloud

  • Improve resource management during stack tear down
  • Release the new UI update

Planned

Hubs Engine

  • Ability to grant a single user the ability to project their voice in a space
  • Update three.js
  • Ship an updated version of media frames to reduce complexity of adding media to a scene
  • Improved workflow for localizing the Hubs client
  • Improved accessibility for screen readers
  • Add emoji menu to the chat window
  • Gracefully handle deprecation of Google Poly assets

Hubs Cloud

  • Update botocore dependency
  • Configuration of ports for services in a restricted network

Considering

  • Support for networked interactions that can be authored in Spoke
  • Improvements for video streaming and screen sharing
  • Nametag updates
  • Jumbotron / speaker camera functionality to stream from one part of a Hubs room to another area in the scene
