returning never instead of mixed is a pretty radical change from the current behaviour. I'd be fine with this for Psalm 6, what do you think about rebasing on master for this? |

Looks like it's radical, but practically the impact is minimal (it only affected 1 test that was a really bad practice anyway and has (always had) a better way to do it now and only got rid of false positive errors for like 2 other tests). I can't rebase it on master, as I have fixed tons of bugs for empty/isset/array key exists upon these changes already. Since we can't use psalm 6 yet, I can't really PR anything for it, as we wouldn't be able to use it for ourselves until it's released. What I can offer is that - if the impact/amount of issues is too big - I will PR a new config flag for v5 that will enable the never behavior (default will be the mixed behavior) + also create a PR on master then, that will again remove this config flag (unless you/people want to keep this configurable) EDIT: if you prefer I can add-on those changes for empty/isset/array key exists onto this PR instead of creating a separate one once it's merged |

nah nevermind then. Can you still rebase on 5.x? Now that the phar is fixed, I'd like to check if it works when analyzing phpunit |
revert vimeo#7663 including previous from_docblock Mixed assignments, as the tests required 2 suppressions and created an escape hatch via mixed on higher psalm error levels, where mixed isn't reported, thus hiding potentially fatal bugs. It's still possible to run the validation of docblock docs though: a @var declaration that contains both possible types, to ensure later code won't escape any checks (and no @psalm-suppress needed at all) This is also a required preparation to fix some isset issues of vimeo#9759

It's still possible to run the validation of docblock docs though: a @var declaration that contains both possible types, to ensure later code won't escape any checks (and no @psalm-suppress needed at all)
